Recycling FAQs
-
A recycling drop-off program is a free community-based initiative that allows community members to drop off recyclable materials at designated collection sites. This is a great way to recycle when curbside pick-up is unavailable.
-
Below is a list of what can be dropped off:
Plastic bottles & containers (Labeled #1-6)
Aluminum cans
Cardboard (flattened)
Newspaper, junk mail, mixed paper - all colors and types.
-
You can find the drop-off container located at the cul-de-sac directly behind the Coushatta Tribal Police Station on the Reservation. Please look for the signs!
-
The drop-off container has designated compartments for each type of recycling. You will need to pay attention to the labels to ensure the materials are being palced in the proper bin.
-
We encourage community members of the Coushatta Tribe to recycle as much as needed. Please contact the Environmental Department at 337-584-1538 for assistance or of notice that the bin is reaching capacity.
-
It’s best ot avoid dropping off heavily soiled materials with food or grease, or dirty, as they contaminate the recycling stream, and can attract pests, insects, and rodents.
